Copy of Spay/Neuter Agreement
This Spay/Neuter Agreement (“Agreement”) is between Kitty’s Kitten Rescue, a nonprofit organization operating in the State of South Carolina (“Rescue” or “KKR”), and the undersigned Adopter.
MANDATORY STERILIZATION REQUIREMENT
In accordance with the mission of Kitty’s Kitten Rescue and applicable South Carolina animal welfare standards, the above-named kitten must be spayed or neutered unless already altered prior to adoption. No breeding is permitted.
Unless a licensed veterinarian provides written medical justification for delay, Adopter agrees to complete spay/neuter by 6 months of age.
SURGERY PAYMENT OPTIONS
OPTION A – Kitten of Age & Weight / Rescue-Arranged Surgery
- Adopter agrees to pay the spay/neuter fee listed below at time of adoption.
- Surgery will be scheduled through a Rescue-approved veterinarian or clinic.
- Adopter agrees to transport the kitten unless otherwise arranged.
- Failure to attend the scheduled appointment may result in forfeiture of payment.
- Spay/Neuter fee is: $80 for males needing shots, $70 for surgery only; $100 for females needing shots, $90 for surgery only.
OPTION B – Refundable Deposit (Kitten Not Yet Eligible OR Adopter Using Own Vet)
- Adopter agrees to pay a refundable deposit of the spay/neuter fee above (highest amount only)
- Surgery must be completed by 6 months of age.
- Adopter may use a licensed veterinarian of their choice.
3. DEPOSIT REFUND TERMS
To receive a refund of the deposit, Adopter must:
- Submit proof of surgery within fourteen (14) days after the procedure.
- Provide documentation from a licensed veterinarian including:
- Kitten’s name
- Date of surgery
- Clinic name and contact information
- Confirmation of sterilization
Refunds will be processed within up to fourteen (14) business days after verification and will be issued in the original form of payment when possible.
Failure to provide proof by the required deadline will result in forfeiture of the deposit.
4. BREACH OF AGREEMENT
Failure to comply with this Agreement constitutes a material breach of the Adoption Contract. Under South Carolina law, the Rescue retains the right to:
- Seek enforcement of this Agreement in a court of competent jurisdiction within the State of South Carolina;
- Recover reasonable attorney’s fees and court costs if permitted by law;
- Reclaim custody of the animal if sterilization requirements are not met.
This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of South Carolina. Venue for any legal action shall lie in the county in which the Rescue operates.
5. MEDICAL EXCEPTIONS
If a licensed veterinarian determines sterilization would endanger the kitten’s health, written documentation must be submitted prior to the six-month deadline. Extensions may be granted at the sole discretion of the Rescue.
6. ACKNOWLEDGMENT

- Understand spay/neuter is mandatory;
- Agree to complete sterilization within the required timeframe;
- Understand refund policies, deadlines, and legal obligations.
